i cried yesterday, the day before that and every time i watched the series. actually, i cried because of the drama called "1 Litre of Tears". i already watched this 11 episodes drama on 8tv, two years ago. but then i bought the complete dvd and watched it again. *even though i bought the dvd in speedy, the quality is stupid as an asshole!
i really need to buy another dvd. *haihh. nevertheless, i am sure hardly anyone has heard about this japanese drama. this series is a real story based on the diaries wrote by the real person, kitou aya. this drama revolved a girl, an ordinary girl who was a clever student, a good basketball player and a kind-loving sister. her name was ikeuchi aya. *the true name was kitou aya, okay? don't get confused.
aya had a disease that cannot be cured. *i don't remember exactly what the disease name but i am sure it something about losing the nerves in our body. well, you can imagine how a normal 15 years-old girl lost her ability to talk, to walk and to eat. *that's the main reason i cried. even though she had a great family, aya wanted to live like the normal teenagers around her. she had to let go many things because of her disease.
however, she got a family to support her, friends who loved her and a doctor to help her. this was the moment when the fictional character, haruto asou came around. asou didn't appear in the real life of kitou aya but in this series, he was her love interest. throughout this series, you can look perfectly well how much asou loved aya but in her condition, she thought she didn't deserve to be loved by him.
i'm usually hard to cry when watching either movie or tv series but "1 Litre of Tears" is a touching series. i cried in ep 5, 6, 7, 8 and the last ep, 11. you will cry in those episodes. *if you don't, at least in one ep, i think you're a cold-hearted person. i bet everyone will cry because i cried.
the main theme in this series is life. even though i know what the ending is gonna be, but i cried when i watched the last episode. she dead, yeah. but you know when she dead, she left her mark in the world, showing how life could be unpredictable, showing you her determination to keep on living despite her condition and showing you that life is worthy. *i felt it when i watched her.
the ending that really touched me was when she's playing her favourite sport, basketball, alone in the hall, scoring in every shot she made. then she stopped, looking at the asou who was watching her and smiling. *i cried. T^T
btw, i think the actress, erika kawajiri is so good in bringing ikeuchi aya came alive. you don't know how hard for a normal woman acting sick in the series. well, she did her best and her acting sure did move me.
in this series, aya always showed her strong heart but in the episode when she left her school, *if you want to know why, watch it by yourself. she had said,
"to smile and act strong in front of people, i need at least, 1 litre of tears." *i cried again in that episode!

this is the real kitou aya.

this is ikuechi aya by erika sawajiri.
well, they have a lot of different, right? but i don't care much.

the happy family; from the left back, hiroki - her brother, ako - her sister, asou - her friend, her mother and her father. from the front, rika - her youngest sister and herself, aya.
asou is a fictional character but the family is real. i loved her family. ouh, btw, aya was the eldest.

p/s; the main theme for aya, i think is, "life is unpredictable, but i managed it." :)
